The run course
-
The Ironman UK run course starts with an 8 mile point to point run. This leaves T2 at Reebok Stadium and passes through Horwich, down Chorley New Road, turning just short of the A58, doubling back as far as Regent Road. From here runners pass once along the canal path at Middlebrook rejoining the road at Overdale Drive. From the top of Overdale Drive athletes turn left back onto Chorley New Road heading west to join a multi lap circuit which provides a great opportunity for spectators to see their athlete multiple times along its full length. Turning just before Beaumont Road (A58) athletes then head back all the way along Chorely New Road onto Bark St and into Le Mans Crescent via Knowsley St. Once at the turn point in Le Mans Crescent athletes do the circuit 3 times before entering the finish funnel in Victoria Square. At this point runners should have collected three wristbands from the lap band point which is just before Overdale Drive on the laps. The course elevation is 290m (950ft) over the 26.2 miles.
