What a beautiful day for racing in the wine country of Northern California. When the professional athletes took off on the swim at the 2008 Vineman Ironman 70.3, it was a cool 53 degrees with a light misting of fog and no wind. The water temperature measured 72 degrees, making it a wetsuit legal swim for all competitors. Read the story »
From year to year, so much stays the same at the Vineman Ironman 70.3 held in Northern California every summer. This point-to-point venue begins at Johnson's Beach in Guerneville and winds through some spectacular wine regions of Sonoma County. Athletes will never tire of the beautiful vineyards and wineries as they make their way to the bike-to-run transition at Windsor High School, just north of Santa Rosa. The bike course is mostly flat to rolling, with one climb up Chalk Hill at mile 45. The out-and-back run course is challenging, with several rolling hills to keep you honest. Read the story »

This event has truly become one of the most popular long course triathlons in the country. Perhaps it is the 12 run-course aid stations that serve literally a ton of food, or the 800 enthusiastic volunteers, or the awesome Sonoma County scenery which have made this race so popular. Traversing through wineries and vineyards, the Vineman Ironman 70.3 takes competitors along some of northern California's most gorgeous coastline.
