Welcome to the very first Ironman Wales!
Weather conditions have seen some changes to the swim course location but despite this the athletes seem excited and ready to race!
Among the 1305 athletes racing today we have the current male and female 2011 Ironman UK champions, Aaron Farlow and Kristin Moeller
The local RNLI lifeboats are supporting the swim safety crew this morning. The water temperature is about 15 degrees
Our commentators for the race today are Paul Kaye, Paul Groves and Emma Jenkinson.
Local pro athlete Oliver Simon was the first athlete to complete the first lap of the swim
The sun is shining at the north beach, as many of the athletes are making their way around the 2nd lap of the swim
Oliver Simon has got out of the swim in the lead with 3 athletes just behind
Athletes now have a 1000km run to transition to grab their bikes to start the tough bike course (made tougher by the strong winds we are currently having!)
First athlete, still Oliver Simon has just passed Manorbier Castle
Report from the lead car that Oliver Simon is still in the lead. Just passing through Pembroke, about 6 miles in. No one is in sight behind him
Race number 33, Edo Van Der Meer is the leader on the bike
Swim results will be available shortly, apologies for the delay
The last few swimmers are about to make their way out of the water, unfortunately for the athletes the wind hasn’t calmed at all.
We currently have an age group athlete in the lead for the female race. Race number 897 Rhian Roxburgh from North Wales
All swimmers are now out of the water. A total of 1282 athletes are now on the bike course
A huge thank you to the RNLI for their assistance with the swim safety today
Currently no change for the leaders on the bike course.
Apologies about the live tracking, we are working as fast as we can to solve this

Oldest competitor Garth Barfoot #345 is doing well very warmly dressed on the bike course, not only did he travel from New Zealand to get here but he is also 75 years old!
Aaron Farlow now has an 8 minute lead on 2nd and 3rd. Aaron had previously said that he doesn’t enjoy hilly run courses so his race strategy today is probably to gain as much of a lead coming into T2 as possible
Edo Van Der Meer, is a Dutch athlete who has had a dominating presence on the bike course today. He is the 2003 Dutch Junior Champion. Came 10th at 70.3 Antwerp 2011 in 4 hours 7 minutes, he also came 16th in the Abu Dhabi triathlon this year. Says he enjoys long hilly bike courses, Tenby is the place for him then!
The leaders are starting to spread out a little now. Top 5 have passed through the last feed station at Narberth and are on their way to T2
One of the original Ironmen from 1978 Dave Orlowski was concern about the cold conditions here in Tenby, worried that it would compromise his Kona 2011 slot had a great swim and exited T1 in high spirits
Aaron Farlow, race leader has entered transition, and is on his way to the run course
Markus Thomschke has come into T2 in second place
First age group athlete is now on the run course, race number 831 Christian Mueller
Markus is now 5 minutes 30 behind Aaron on the run course
British pro athlete Nick Saunders is now on the run in 15th place
Age group athlete Christian Mueller is currently on the run in 6th overall
1:46 Ironman Wales continues but at this time today our thoughts go to those who lost their loved ones 10 years ago in the Twin Towers attack
