  • How fast are German age group athletes? Meet Gothard Winkler, who dominated the 65-69 category today with a 12:28:26. Unreal.
  • A shout-out request for Gary Forster ... from his soon-to-be wife Emma Mirley.
"Can you tell him that Emma and Caitlan are thinking of him, we are so proud of him and I can't wait to be his wife!" said the note earlier today.

I'm hoping that Gary won't be reading updates while he's racing, but good luck none-the-less!
  • It started like this

  • Then there was a spectacular bike ride

  • Followed by a tough run

  • And an amazing finish

  • Make that two amazing finishes!

  • A couple of follow ups: Remember Elizabeth Thompson? She had a stroke here in France in 2008, came back a year later and qualified for Kona ... and was back again today. She finished second in her age category today in 15:18. Congrats Elizabeth!
  • One more - how about our oldest competitor today, Pierre Beccamel. The 72-year-old finished in 15:20!
  • A great time was had by all!
