  • Thanks to Ian Hepenstall for an update on Britta Martin, who now makes New Zealand her home. The former professional cyclist in Germany in 2007 for Team Stuttgart. She now mixes multisport, trail running and Xterra and was an outstanding 8th in her Ironman debut in New Zealand in 2008. She finished fifth at Ironman New Zealand last year and fourth here at Ironman France.

  • We haven't noticed the heat too much here in the trailer we're working from behind the finish line here on the Promenade des Anglais. Everyone walking in, though, keeps saying how hot it is outside. Right now the official temperature is 79 degrees F (26 C) and the humidity is sitting at 66 %. The temperature is supposed to go up a few degrees in the next few hours, according to the latest reports.
  • Van Lierde and Chabaud are now just entering T2. The music just went up a few notches - the ground is vibrating here at the finish line.
  • Van Lierde made it to T2 first, a whole second ahead of Chabaud.
