    Our youngest women is Madeleine Gaffaney Cary NC, at 18 and also at 18, our youngest man is Mexico's Daniel Graff.

    Athletes raising money through the IRONMAN Foundation

    Here at the Ironman Coeur d'Alene there are over 30 athletes racing who will be raising money for a number of different causes. The Ironman Foundation's program "Your Journey, Your Cause" allows athletes to fundraise for a charity they are passionate about. It gives the athletes the opportunity to make their journey to become an Ironman, a race for a cause. Since it's inception in 2003 the Ironman Foundation has given back more than $10 million to causes around the globe. Here are some of the athletes involved with the program this year:

  • IRONMAN COEUR D'ALENE RENEWS CONTRACT
    Five year extension announced today in Idaho

    IRONMAN will be a mainstay in Coeur d'Alene for another five years thanks to a contract extension just announced for the event. The first IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene took place in 2003. Athletes were blown away by the picturesque venue at the Coeur d’Alene resort and the scenic racecourse that offers a variety of terrain. The community embraced the event, making athletes feel at home and ensuring that each and every IRONMAN race held there would be unforgettable.

    A prerace glance at this weekend's Ironman racing in the American Northwest


    This weekend's Ironman Coeur d'Alene marks the tenth occasion that athletes have been welcomed by Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding communities. The event is famous for the warm Idaho hospitality and the stunning course. On Sunday, over 2,600 international athletes will be treated to an Ironman experience that will be forever etched in their memory.

  • All the bikes have been safely tucked away in transition here in Coeur dÀlene for the night. The pasta dinners have been consumed and there is nothing but a restless nights sleep that separates 2600 athletes from the start of their journey to becoming an Ironman tomorrow.

    Our prerace coverage will commence at 6:00 a.m. with our professional men and women’s race hitting the waters of Coeur d’Alene Lake at 6:25 a.m., and our age group race will follow at 7:00 a.m.

    The weatherman is calling for showers in the morning with an eventual high near 75F and winds southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The chance of rain is about 40% according to reports.

  • Welcome to the 2012 Ironman Coeur d'Alene

  • Welcome to the 10th edition of the Ironman Coeur d’Alene her in the American Northwest.

    How quick time has passed since our first race here in Idaho that saw Americans Michael Lovato and Heather Gollnick winning the inaugural event in 2003. On Friday representatives from the City of Coeur d’Alene and the WTC signed an agreement ensuring the event will be here for an additional five years for athletes to enjoy.

    Currently, we are 30-minutes from the start of our professional men and women races here in Coeur d’Alene, scheduled to start at 6:25 a.m. Pacific Time. The age group race will start 35-minutes later, at 7:00 a.m.

  • We are five minutes from the start of the race here in Coeur d’Alene. The skies are cloudy and the temperature is 57F with winds out of the northeast at 8mph.

    The crowds are thick around the beach at Coeur d’Alene Lake.

  • Our age group race will commence at 7:00 a.m., 35-minutes after our professional race start. Most of our pro’s should be well on their way into their second loop when the age group race starts.
  • Check that- Zymestiev and Lieto are off the group with Kessler connecting with them. She has 50M on 2nd place woman. Blokhin is now in front group.
