Ironman 70.3 Vineman

  • Athlete tracking from the swim may be delayed due to the lack of cell or internet coverage at the exit; the times will be populated once the timers have connectivity.
  • Well, the expo and packet pick up are over. Hopefully all the athletes are sleeping. Meanwhile the work crew and staff at Vineman are wrapping up everything from the day and finalizing everything for what we hope to be a very memorable race tomorrow.
  • T2 ready to roll for tomorrow's AVIA Vineman Ironman 70.3

  • We'll see you all bright and early tomorrow morning from Johnson's Beach, the swim start. It's in a relatively remote area so hopefully we will have coverage! The weather report for tomorrow is partly cloudy with a high of 77 in Windsor. Could we see some course records broken tomorrow?
  • Good Morning! Just about to head out to the swim start in Guerneville. It looks like the marine layer moved in overnight so the athletes in at least the early waves could have a cool morning.
  • Race start time is 6:30 where we will see the pro men begin. The pro women will start 2 minutes later.
  • Okay folks. Sorry for the lack of coverage from the swim this morning. The internet was down.
  • So latest word from the course is that Chris Lieto has just taken the lead fromPaul Matthews. This happened at mile 48
  • He holds a 16 lead. Then it's another 1:30 to Matt Lieto
  • Potts is another 10 seconds back from there
  • Another 40 seconds back is
  • Joe Gambles, followed by O'Grady,Leto,Reed and O'Donnell
  • Last we heard in the women's race (at mile 28) Leanda Cave had a 3 minute lead over Tenille Hoogland. Another minute back was Meredith Kessler
  • Followed by Melissa Rollison at 5 min, Challis at 6 min and Carfrae at 8 minutes. Rinny will have her work cut out for her on the run.
  • Chris Lieto is out on the run followed close behind by Paul matthews.
  • Potts and Matt Lieto just into T2

  • They are 3:45 down on the lead
  • OGrady,Leto,Reed,O'Donnell and Gambles all leaving T2 together.
  • No other pros in site yet. this is a huge gap
  • The weather is perfect here today in wine country. We could have some super fast run times!
  • New Zealand's Bruce Hunter coming into T2
  • With a quick change and he is out on the run
  • Top 10 guys on course. We should have an update from about the mile 4 point in a little while
  • Kemp, Rix, and Thomas into T2 together, followed right behind by Thompson.
  • Thompson is know for his run so if anyone is fading on the run this guy can move up in the positions.
  • Lieto left out on the run about 13 minutes ago.
  • Dahlz and Lampret into T2 along with Paul Attard
  • At mile 3 Matthews has put 60 seconds into Lieto, running hot on his heals only 5 seconds back.
  • Eric Clarkson just into T2.
  • Villanueva, Macasieb and Stallard
  • We're patiently waiting for our first women to arrive. Chances are good it will be Leanda Cave.
