  • We just had a report from 21 miles into the bike that a group of ten men are riding closely packed up. The running order was: Tim O’Donnell, Luke McKenzie. Mazim Kriat, David Kahn, Marko Albert, Richie Cunningham and Chris McCormack, Oscar Galindez and Chris McDonald.
  • There were 1253 athletes started the inaugural Ironman 70.3 San Juan this morning.
  • Up until just 10 days ago, Dr Amanda Stevens was going to make Ironman 70.3 San Juan her first race of the year and use it as a tune up for Ironman South Africa. The 2010, Ironman 70.3 Cancun champion, had a minor injury because of fall off her toilet. That is right, that was no typo, and a “toilet” is what she fell off.
Here is the story: Her husband, Randy, had cut up his knee while out mountain biking. Naturally, Amanda being a physician went on to patching her husband up. While Amanda was standing on their toilet seat, in attempts to reach medical supplies in an overhead cupboard, she slipped and fell backwards striking her hip.
Nothing was broke, bruised up a bit, Amanda was forced to take it easy for a week in her training. The good doctor reports that she will be ready for Ironman South Africa in three weeks’ time.
