Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca

Getting ready for some fast racing: the press conference at the Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca
- Good morning from beautiful Mallorca!
- In 1,5 hours the Pros will start from the bay of Acudia, followed by more than 1800 ages groupers.
- The sun is slowly rising at Mallorca and you can see the athletes warming up. It will be a sunny day with some clouds in the afternoon and maybe some wind. Most oft the athletes know the course, as many of them have been training several times here at the island.
- The race is on!
- The Pros just startet the 1,9 km swim, a one loop course right at the bay of Alcudia. The waves with the age groupers will start every 10 minutes.

- French Betrandc Billard startet the run just a couple of minutes ago, followed by Andreas Raelert (GER) 3 minutes behind and a group of three, including Philip Graves (GBR) 20 sec behind Raelert.
- The top pro females arrived at T2:

- After a long lead at the bike and the run, Bertrand Billard from France got second.
- And in third place is Fanother French Sylvain Sudrie.

- In second is Erica Csomor (HUN) followed by German Silvia Felt.
- The top 3 male and female of the Thoms Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca are at the press conference at the moment talking about their races.
- Andreas Raelert (GER), winner: " I am very happy and proud of me and my race, but I have to say, that Bertrand really pushed me to the limit! He is a great athlete and he has an even greater future!"
- Bertrand Billard (FRA), 2nd place: "It is my first Ironman 70.3 and I wanted to make a surprise. When I came up the mountain I realized that Andreas was far behind me and on the run I expected him to catch me very early. But when he passed me very late I knew that I can get second. I am very happy!"
- Sylvain Sudrie (FRA), 3rd place: " For me Bertrand is not a surprise, he is French like me ... I loved the course and the spectators, it was a perfect race!"
- Emma-Kate Lidbury (GBR), winner: "I knew that I am a good swimmer and a strong cyclist, but I didn`t know how it would be on the run. The girls really pushed me, so I am happy with that win and look forward to the season!"
- Erica Csomor (HUN), 2nd place: " It was my first time here at Mallorca and I had no idea what to expect. I tried to catch Emma-Kate, but it was just not possible."
- Silvia Felt (GER), 3rd place:"It is my first time at the podium as a Pro, so it was an almoust perfect race for me! I just expected the top five."
- The age group race is still going on, there are many athletes still out on the course.
