IRONMAN 70.3 St.Pölten

    Welcome to IRONMAN 70.3 St. Poelten. On Sunday we will have the ninth edition of the race in lower Austria. The defending champions Eneko Llanos from Spain and Austrian Lisa Hütthaler will not start this year, but there is a sensational field racing. Michi Weiss wants to the first Austrian to win the men's race in St. Poelten. He faces strong opponents like Nils Frommhold or Andreas Boecherer from Germany. In the women's race Nicola Spirig wants to celebrate the second victory for Switzerland after Karin Thuerig won in 2011.

    We hear from the course that Yvonne van Vlerken has made her way into runer-up-position. We try to find out if she has eventually passed Nicola Spirig. In the lead we still have Anja Beranek.

    This is not the best runner - but 10 minutes is a huge gap for Anja Beranek, although she has the reigning Olympic champion in her neck.
    Through Km 10.4 we have Boecherer in front, Frommhold at 1:27, in 3rd Van Berkel (+6:25), in 4th Weiss (+6:45)
    8:18 - that's the gap to the front after 6 km for Nicola Spirig. She has made about 2 minutes.
