    Quotes from the press conference:

Thomas Dieckhoff, CEO IRONMAN Europe, Middle East and Africa: We had approximately 90.000 spectators out there. This is a new record – we can be really pleased with that. This race has been fantastic marketing for our sports.

Björn Steinmetz, Managing Director Germany: We made some little changes on the run course – and that really paid off. The finish line area at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden is more wide and we have a lot of people there watching. The pro race was a great success – it was super fair.

Camilla Pedersen, DEN, women’s champion: It feels really good, I’m very happy. There were a lot of fans out there. Anja and myself, we had a tough fight, I had to keep myself cool.

Boris Stein, GER, men’s champion: I’m totally over the moon. My plan was to not risk too much because I wanted to secure my qualification for Kona. My swim was very good, so, I totally changed tactics early on the bike. The final lap of the run was hard, but I’m absolutely happy.

Anja Beranek, GER, 2nd place women’s race: I’m very happy with my race. I tried everything on the run to attack Camilla on the first 10 km, but a woman with a hammer hit me then.

Andreas Raelert, GER, 2nd place men’s race: Boris was in his own race today, he was super strong. I tried to realize a satisfying result today, and this worked out. My main goal was to qualify for Kona here.

Alexandra Tondeur, BEL, 3rd place women’s race: I’m very happy with my race. It was hard, but I’m absolutely glad to be on the podium.

Ruedi Wild, SUI, 3rd place men’s race: I tried to save some energy on the first two run laps which worked out. I could push on the last two laps – it was a good race for me.
