    Ecuador is a welcome addition to the Latin American IRONMAN race circuit and this knock-out gorgeous venue is sure to be a hit for those racing the inaugural event Sunday.

    Tim Don highlights the men's field while in the women's race veteran Dede Griesbauer gets top billing due to seniority and her recent performances, however there are number of women capable grabbing the win.

    A lead pack of six men are out of the water together with Tim Don narrowly nipping James Hadley by 23/100's of a second at the timing mat. Close behind was Rodrigo Sepulveda and Thiago Vinhal.
    Lauren Goos cleared the women's field of three during the swim and has leads of +1:38 and +1:40 Valentina Carvallo and Dede Griesbauer

    Tim Don has completed 45 miles of the bike and has a +3:22 lead on Jame Hadley and +4:33 on Jonathan Tryoen.
    Kiwi Braden Currie is riding in fourth through 45 miles while Chile's Roberto Rivera +6:21 crosses the timing mat in fifth (+6:21) followed by Brazil's Thiago Vinhal, at +7:26.
    Close women's race at the halfway point of the bike. Lauren Goss has a slim lead of three seconds on Dede Griesbauer.
    Griesbauer missed the securing a starting spot at the Ironman world championship by one spot when the initial 28 women were announce as the July Qualifiers of the Kona Points Ranking system. The veteran will have until the end of August to accumulate more points as there will be seven additional starting slots available for the women's field to be awarded.

    Tim Don is off his bike and heading into transition with the lead after hammering out a 2:07:47 bike split.

    Jonathan Tryoen has dismounted his bike in second place overall, +9:16 behind leader Tim Don, with James Hadley following 9 seconds later in third.
    The cagey veteran Dede Griesbauer is off the bike first in the women's race and has a +1;02 lead on Lauren Goss.
