We're getting some conflicting reports on the women's race - we've been told that Heather Wurtele has passed Jodie Swallow and is in the lead. We're just trying to confirm that with our spotting crew.

Through 15 miles Maik Twelsiek is hanging on to his lead, but he's now only 13 seconds ahead of Mathias Hecht. In third we have Ben Hoffman, who is 3:11 behind, with Mike Aigroz in fourth at 7:38. Paul Ambrose has faded a bit - he's in fifth at 8:53 behind the leader.
Our fourth and fifth place women are running together - Jackie Arendt and Uli Bromme are running 27:42 and 27:54 behind.
Heather Wurtele has gone through 11 miles of the run.
We just found out why we hadn't heard anything from our nine-mile spotters - they waited 11 minutes to be able to report Heather Wurtele's lead. The news is that she's that far ahead of Meredith Kessler - no sign at this point of Jodie Swallow.
Through 17 miles of the marathon Mathias Hecht has taken the lead - he is 28 seconds ahead of Maik Twelsiek. Ben Hoffman is in third, 4:08 behind our new leader.
Mathias Hecht has never won an Ironman - he's managed to pick a ton of races with superstars. He's finished second in New Zealand to Cameron Brown and second at Ironman Switzerland to Ronnie Schildknecht. Could today finally be his day?
More of the men at 17 miles: in fourth we have Mike Aigroz at 8 minutes, with TJ Tollakson at 8:41.
Defending champion Michi Weiss is about to do an interview on our video coverage. He suffered from some cramps and back spasms - but appears to be in good spirits now. He says he's very motivated for Ironman 70.3 Austria in a couple of weeks and then for Ford Ironman Lake Placid at the end of July.
The lead continues to grow for heather Wurtele - she's now 12:37 up on Meredith Kessler.
Mathias Hecht continues to pull away - his lead is now up to 51 seconds as he makes the last turn and starts to head back to the finish line.
Jodie Swallow has decided to call it a day - she has just given her timing chip to a race official. We're not sure if it's the result of her foot injury or not.
Oops - Mathias Hecht didn't finish second in New Zealand - it was South Africa last year. He finished third in New Zealand behind Cameron Brown and Terenzo Bozzone this year, and third in 2008 at Ford Ironman Lake Placid.
More of the men at 19.85: Ben Hoffman is now in third place, 4:51 behind Hecht. TJ Tollakson is now in fourth, 6:51 behind first.
Through 22 miles Mathias Hecht remains in the lead. Maik Twelsiek remains in second, 1:46 behind the Swiss athlete.
I've been joking with Mathias Hecht that he's been following me around this year. We were both in New Zealand in March, then in Galveston for Ironman 70.3 Texas. He told me in New Zealand that he really wanted to focus on this race as the course suited him. Right now it looks like he was right.
The heat and conditions on this course are really shaking up all the splits here today as some of the athletes literally fold in the heat. TJ Tollakson is now in third place, 7:30 down. Ben Hoffman is really struggling now - he's now 7:43 down in fourth. Mike Aigroz is in fifth, 9:16 behind Hecht.
Through 24 miles Hecht remains in front, 1:47 ahead of Maik Twelsiek. This certainly isn't over yet!
Heather Wurtele's lead continues to grow through 15 miles of the run. Her lead is now up to 19:30 on Meredith Kessler.
